When does KJ Street start writing a grant?
❤❤❤
When you first meet with the team, you will be sent a checklist of items. We will start writing once we have the incorporation documents and project quote. You will not see the grant to edit until we have the majority of the checklist (items/documents).
Who submits the grant?
❤❤❤
If we can submit, we will. But if you are to submit, we will give you instructions. It’s very important to let us know once you’ve done that so that we don’t keep bugging you.
What happens if I didn’t respond in time, and the grant deadline has passed?
❤❤❤
If we don't get you on the phone or by email, we will submit on the day it is due with edits or without.
Who hears if we were successful in the grant?
❤❤❤
Our name is not on the application, so we will never hear if you received the funding - whoever is listed as your organization’s contact will get the notification. But it’s important to let us know when you have good news so we can celebrate with you!
Who does the reconciliation of the grants?
❤❤❤
It’s part of our commitment to assist in completing the reconciliation. Please remember that we will need to know the deadline so we can calendar it.
What happens if we find out our society has been dissolved?
❤❤❤
Call or email us right away and we will support you in cleaning up the paperwork.
What if we haven’t raised enough funds, but we have a grant with a spending deadline?
❤❤❤
With some grants, we can reach out and ask for an extension - but remember, this can only happen once. We will also help you to change the project scope if you are just a little bit short in funding.
KJ keeps asking for financials and year to dates. What are those and what's the difference?
❤❤❤
Some grants - especially provincial and federal - require financial statements (income statement and balance sheet). Often required are your most recent fiscal year end (per your bylaws) and a year to date which starts from from fiscal year start to the current date. If you are not sure, ask us and we will help.
What if we want a meeting with one of your team members?
❤❤❤
That’s easy! Contact the team member you've been dealing with directly, or feel free to email Rebecca to look at the calendar for our availability.
What if the grant list is too overwhelming to know which grants our group wants?
❤❤❤
Simply email Rebecca and ask for help – we will be more than happy to create a Plan of Action (POA) with suggestions from the upcoming 3 months of grant deadlines.
